Position: Health & Safety Manager
Rate: awaiting IR35 determination
Location: Plymouth
Working Arrangements: 5 days on site
We are partnered with one of the Framework Consultants delivering upgrade projects at Devonport Dockyard, Plymouth. Our client is looking to hire a Health and Safety Manager with experience in site management and who has worked within the UK defense industry.

We are partnered with one of the Framework Consultants delivering upgrade projects at Devonport Dockyard, Plymouth. Our client is looking to hire a Health and Safety Manager with experience in site management and who has worked within the UK defense industry.
Responsibilities:
- Promote a positive Health and Safety culture on site
- Lead and promote continuous improvement in relation to all health, safety, and environmental work practices on the site
- Communicate with local authorities and any other external bodies relating to EHS
- Identify areas of risk and develop risk assessments/measures to reduce and control
- Monitor EHS compliance on site and generate weekly inspections & reports
- Host and lead safety meetings
- Influence and coach the site team in the implementation of best practice EHS standards
- Advising and assisting site management in drafting, reviewing, and communicating Method Statements, Safe Plans of Action, and Toolbox Talks
- Manage training and compliance files
- Provide advice, guidance, and instruction in all health & safety matters to management, safety representatives, and employees (including sub-contractors where appropriate)
- Conduct regular inspections and site audits, reporting findings to the site and senior company management.
- Ensure that all accidents are reported, recorded, and investigated, and that suitable notification is given
- Compile incident investigation reports
- Compile relevant information for inclusion in the Safety File and prepare for handover to the Client at the end of the project

To be successful in this position, we’re looking for someone who has:
- Hold an SMSTS and relevant EHS Qualification (NEBOSH Construction, ISO9001, IOSH)
- Have worked within the UK defense industry or on major infrastructure projects
- Have an understanding of Mechanical and Electrical packages.
- Have demonstrable experience in a similar EHS and Site Manager roles
- Have experience working with a Tier 1 contract or client-side
- A full, clean driving licence is required
