Job Title: Site Manager (Freelance, CIS)
Location: Based in Yeovil with travel across the South West
Contract: Freelance, CIS basis – Approx. 2 years’ work
Sector: Civil Engineering / Principal Contractor – EA Framework

Overview We are seeking an experienced Site Manager to join a principal contractor delivering works on the Environment Agency (EA) framework. The role will be site-based, primarily around Yeovil and the wider South West region, managing sections of works and site teams across a variety of civil engineering projects.

This is a freelance CIS role with around two years of secured work, offering an excellent opportunity for an experienced professional to work on long-term framework delivery.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage day-to-day site operations across multiple sites within the framework.
  • Lead and coordinate site teams, including subcontractors and direct labour.
  • Ensure works are delivered safely, on time, to specification, and within budget.
  • Plan, monitor, and report progress against programme.
  • Oversee quality control, environmental compliance, and health & safety standards.
  • Liaise with the Project Manager, framework partners, and client representatives.
  • Manage sections of works, ensuring smooth handovers and effective sequencing.
  • Contribute to risk assessments, method statements, and permit processes.
  • Resolve on-site challenges, ensuring minimum disruption to project delivery.
Requirements
  • Proven experience as a Site Manager for a principal contractor, ideally on frameworks.
  • Background in civil engineering and infrastructure projects (EA/environmental experience desirable).
  • Strong knowledge of health, safety, quality, and environmental standards.
  • Valid SMSTS, CSCS (Black/Gold) and First Aid at Work.
  • Full UK driving licence and flexibility to travel across the South West.
  • Excellent organisational and leadership skills, with the ability to manage multiple work fronts.
  • Strong communication skills for client, team, and subcontractor liaison.
Benefits
  • Long-term freelance opportunity (CIS – approx. 2 years).
  • Involvement in a high-profile framework programme.
  • Competitive day rate, commensurate with experience.
