Job Title: Section Engineer – Major Highways Project

Contract Type: Freelance or Permanent
Duration: 3+ years

Overview:
A Tier 1 contractor is seeking an experienced Section Engineer to join a major highways project in South Oxfordshire. This is a fantastic opportunity to get in early on a significant scheme, with over 3 years of work secured. The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering their section of the project from the outset.

Key Responsibilities:

• Supervise and coordinate specific sections of highways, drainage, and earthworks packages
• Support the Site Agent in managing subcontractors and engineers within your section
• Ensure works are delivered safely, on time, and within budget for your section
• Assist in reporting and liaising with project stakeholders
• Monitor quality control and compliance with project specifications

Essential Experience:

• Proven experience as a Section Engineer on highways projects
• Knowledge of drainage, earthworks, and highways construction
• Experience managing packages of significant value (ideally around £20m)
• Ability to work collaboratively with engineers, subcontractors, and the wider project team
• Strong communication, organisational, and problem-solving skills
