Setting Out Engineer - Civils

Job Title: Setting Out Engineer
Location: Hertfordshire   
Rate: Outside IR35 / Umbrella CIS (awaiting IR35 Determination)
Duration: 7 months
Start: 14th October
Work Pattern: 5 days of site/office

People Group  is looking for a Setting Out Engineer to work with the civils team on a major infrastructure project.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform setting out and surveying duties on various surfacing and asphalt projects.
• Interpret and execute engineering drawings, plans, and specifications.
• Coordinate with site managers, subcontractors, and other team members to ensure accurate implementation.
• Monitor and report on progress, quality, and compliance with safety standards.
• Troubleshoot and resolve any technical issues that arise during the construction process.
• Maintain accurate records, including site diaries, as-built drawings, and progress reports.
• Ensure all works are carried out to the highest standard within time constraints.

Qualifications and Experience:

• Proven experience as a Setting Out Engineer, and competent in Set-out, as-builts, surveys, levelling.
• Strong knowledge of construction methodologies, materials, and best practices.
• Proficiency with setting out equipment such as total stations and GPS.
• Familiarity with relevant software (e.g., AutoCAD, Civil 3D) and ability to produce and interpret technical drawings.
• Valid CSCS card and relevant engineering qualifications (e.g., HNC, HND, or degree in Civil Engineering or related field).
