Mechanical Construction Manager
Tier 1 M&E Contractor
South West London
Permanent or freelance (CIS)

My client is a globally recognised Tier 1 M&E contractor with a strong track record delivering large-scale, high-profile projects across the UK and Europe. They operate across a range of sectors including commercial, healthcare, and mission-critical developments.

They are currently seeking an experienced Mechanical Construction Manager to join the team on a £110m healthcare development in South West London, with the project scheduled for
completion in 2027.

Package & Benefits
  • Basic salary: £75,000 – £80,000

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the planning and coordination of mechanical construction activities, including scope, sequencing, and resource planning.
  • Manage all mechanical site works, including ductwork, pipework, plant installation, and commissioning phases.
  • Supervise subcontractors and site operatives to ensure work is delivered safely, efficiently, and to the required quality standards.
  • Work closely with design and engineering teams to review drawings and resolve any technical queries on site.
  • Monitor mechanical progress against programme, identifying risks and driving productivity on site.
  • Ensure all mechanical installations comply with relevant regulations, standards, and company QA procedures.
  • Maintain high health & safety standards across all mechanical activities.
  • Support project reporting, inspections, snagging, and system handovers through to final completion.

Requirements
  • Proven experience working as a Mechanical Construction Manager or Mechanical Site Manager within an M&E or Building Services contractor.
  • Strong background delivering large-scale mechanical packages on commercial, healthcare, or mission-critical projects.
  • Good technical knowledge of HVAC systems, pipework, ductwork, plant installation, and commissioning processes.
  • Experience managing subcontractors, site teams, and coordinating with main contractors and consultants.
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, specifications, and programmes.
  • Strong understanding of health & safety regulations and quality control procedures within the construction industry.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and organisational skills.
