Job description

Senior Quantity Surveyor (Mechanical bias)
Specialist Ductwork Contractor (Northamptonshire)
Salary: £60,000 – £80,000 + Travel Package OR circa £350 – £450 per day

An exciting opportunity has arisen for either a Senior or Intermediate Quantity Surveyor to join a well-established and growing contractor delivering commercial fit-out and prison framework across Northamptonshire, Cambridgeshire and Leicestershire.

This role offers stability, a long-term pipeline of work, excellent earning potential, and the opportunity to work within a secure and structured environment on interesting projects in the region.

You will play a key commercial role across multiple projects, working closely with site teams, clients, and supply chain partners to ensure successful financial delivery from pre-construction through to final account.

Responsibilities:
  • Manage all commercial and cost aspects of commercial fit-out projects within a prison framework.
  • Prepare and manage tender documentation, cost plans, and subcontract packages.
  • Carry out valuations, cost reporting, forecasting, and cash flow management.
  • Assess variations, change control, and compensation events.
  • Negotiate subcontractor accounts and agree on final accounts.
  • Work closely with project managers, clients, and framework stakeholders.
  • Ensure compliance with contractual, commercial, and security requirements specific to custodial environments.

Requirements:
  • Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor within commercial fit-out or building construction.
  • Experience working on framework agreements (public sector experience desirable).
  • Strong knowledge of NEC contracts.
  • Commercially astute with strong financial and analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation abilities.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing effectively to a wider commercial team.
  • Willingness to work within a secure prison environment (security clearance support provided).

Package:
  • Permanent: £60,000 – £80,000 per annum (dependent on experience) + travel package.
  • Freelance: Circa £350 – £450 per day (subject to experience).
  • Long-term, stable workload through a secured prison framework.
  • Opportunity to work on technically interesting and rewarding fit-out projects.

If you’re a Quantity Surveyor looking for long-term stability, structured projects, and the opportunity to work on a major prison framework, we’d love to hear from you.
