Senior Quantity Surveyor (Mechanical bias)
Specialist Ductwork Contractor (Northamptonshire)
Salary: £60,000 – £80,000 + Travel Package OR circa £350 – £450 per day
An exciting opportunity has arisen for either a Senior or Intermediate Quantity Surveyor to join a well-established and growing contractor delivering commercial fit-out and prison framework across Northamptonshire, Cambridgeshire and Leicestershire.
This role offers stability, a long-term pipeline of work, excellent earning potential, and the opportunity to work within a secure and structured environment on interesting projects in the region.
You will play a key commercial role across multiple projects, working closely with site teams, clients, and supply chain partners to ensure successful financial delivery from pre-construction through to final account.

Responsibilities:
- Manage all commercial and cost aspects of commercial fit-out projects within a prison framework.
- Prepare and manage tender documentation, cost plans, and subcontract packages.
- Carry out valuations, cost reporting, forecasting, and cash flow management.
- Assess variations, change control, and compensation events.
- Negotiate subcontractor accounts and agree on final accounts.
- Work closely with project managers, clients, and framework stakeholders.
- Ensure compliance with contractual, commercial, and security requirements specific to custodial environments.
Requirements:
- Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor within commercial fit-out or building construction.
- Experience working on framework agreements (public sector experience desirable).
- Strong knowledge of NEC contracts.
- Commercially astute with strong financial and analytical skills.
- Excellent communication and negotiation abilities.
- Ability to work independently while contributing effectively to a wider commercial team.
- Willingness to work within a secure prison environment (security clearance support provided).
Package:
- Permanent: £60,000 – £80,000 per annum (dependent on experience) + travel package.
- Freelance: Circa £350 – £450 per day (subject to experience).
- Long-term, stable workload through a secured prison framework.
