Role: Senior Quantity Surveyor
Location: London
We are currently working with a well-established and highly regarded fit-out and joinery contractor, recognised for delivering high-quality interior solutions across commercial and high-end sectors.
Due to continued growth, our client is seeking an experienced and commercially driven Senior Quantity Surveyor to take full financial and contractual responsibility for one or multiple projects from inception through to final account. This is a key leadership role, requiring strong commercial acumen, excellent stakeholder management, and the ability to mentor and develop junior team members.

The Role
As Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will be responsible for the commercial management and financial performance of projects, ensuring budgets are achieved or exceeded while maintaining contractual compliance and positive client relationships.
Key Responsibilities
- Full commercial and financial responsibility for projects from pre-contract through to completion and final account
• Managing project budgets, forecasts, cash flow, and CVR reporting, ensuring accuracy and consistency
• Preparing, submitting, and agreeing interim valuations, variations, and final accounts
• Identifying, pricing, and negotiating variations and change control throughout the project lifecycle
• Ensuring applications for payment and payment notices are submitted and received in line with contract conditions
• Maximising cash flow while operating within contractual and company requirements
• Procuring and managing subcontractor and supplier packages, including placing purchase orders and subcontract orders in line with procurement schedules
• Ensuring all subcontract and purchase orders accurately reflect scope, terms, and contract requirements
• Administering main contracts and subcontracts, including the preparation and issuing of contractual notices
• Identifying commercial risks, disputes, and potential claims early, providing clear commercial advice to senior management
• Working closely with project managers, site teams, designers, consultants, and clients to ensure commercial alignment with programme delivery
• Reviewing drawings and specifications to identify commercial risks and opportunities
• Attending client, subcontractor, and internal meetings as required
• Managing, mentoring, and developing junior members of the commercial team
- Degree-qualified in Quantity Surveying or Commercial Management (RICS-accredited preferred)
• Proven experience operating as a Senior Quantity Surveyor within the fit-out, joinery, or interiors sector
• Strong understanding of cost control, CVR reporting, subcontract procurement, and cash flow management
• Experience working with standard forms of contract (e.g. JCT)
• Excellent ability to read and interpret drawings and specifications, with accurate measurement capability
• Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Office and commercial management software
• Excellent commercial awareness, negotiation, and communication skills
• Methodical, detail-oriented, and proactive approach to problem-solving
• Ability to manage multiple stakeholders and lead commercial teams effectively
• Strong knowledge of UK construction practices and industry standards
