Job description
We’re looking for an experienced and motivated Payroll Accountant at Assistant Manager level, either qualified or part-qualified, to join our client's finance team during an exciting period of change and growth. This is a fantastic opportunity to work closely with senior stakeholders across the business, supporting the Finance Manager in maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring compliance with reporting standards.

What you’ll be doing:
- Supporting the Finance Manager with the month-end payroll accounting close process.
- Reviewing and reconciling payroll balance sheet accounts, ensuring all balances are properly documented and supported, and identifying areas of risk or opportunity.
- Collaborating closely with the Payroll team to ensure information is received on time and accurately processed.
- Assisting with internal and external audits to ensure compliance.
- Driving process improvements to enhance efficiency and promote best practice.
- Preparing management reports and other financial information to support decision-making.
- Handling ad hoc financial and accounting tasks as required.
- Professional accounting qualification (CIMA, ACCA, ACA) or part-qualified status.
- Strong working knowledge of payroll accounting.
- Intermediate Excel skills.
- Experience preparing balance sheet reconciliations.
- Understanding of project costing and internal recharges.
- Sound knowledge of accounting principles and reporting requirements.
- A proactive, self-motivated approach and the ability to work independently.
