Initial contract duration: 6 months, likely to extend

An opportunity to support an ongoing and high profile infrastructure construction project in London.

The primary objective of this role is to maintain a strong and visible presence on site. This is not an office-based position; it requires proactive engagement with construction delivery teams to drive high standards of health and safety performance.

You will work closely with site teams to promote and embed best practice, helping to prevent unsafe behaviours, minimise risk, and eliminate lost time incidents and accidents.

You will also play a key role in interpreting and developing client documentation, supporting investigations, and producing clear, accurate reports.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain high visibility on site, actively engaging with teams to promote a positive safety culture
  • Keep the project team informed of new developments and ensure professional standards are consistently applied to achieve best practice on site
  • Apply appropriate tools and techniques, define local strategies, and implement initiatives to improve project H&S performance
  • Provide expert H&S advice to managers and project managers to support the achievement of project objectives
  • Maintain awareness of the wider project impact of your activities to enhance the quality and effectiveness of technical recommendations
  • Develop and maintain strong internal and external relationships to influence decision-making and maximise the impact of your expertise
  • Advise on and interpret contractual and statutory requirements to safeguard project integrity
  • Build and sustain effective relationships with clients, partners, and suppliers to support the delivery of project targets

To be successful in this assignment, you will need:
  • Practical construction site experience gained working for a Tier One Contractor on large civil construction projects
  • Experience in implementing health, safety and wellbeing initiatives and strong knowledge of UK legislation.
  • Strong communication and influencing skills
  • A NEBOSH Construction Certificate OR a NEBOSH National General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety
  • A CSCS Card and SMSTS or SSSTS
  • Be a Graduate or Chartered Member of IOSH
