We are recruiting a Site Agent - Shift Manager for a tunnelling project in the South East. This is a secured project, fully funded, with a signed construction contract. There will be some unique technical exposure - they are utilising a method to construct two shafts that has only been seen in the UK once before.
As the Agent - Shift Manager, you will be responsible for all site works during the shift. You will take the lead in safe delivery and manage aspects of time, cost and quality. Due to the specific nature of this project, you will have to have technical knowledge and experience of tunnelling.

The position is offering a salary of between 70,000 - 75,000 per annum and a 4,500 car / travel allowance. There will be a % shift uplift (TBC). You'll also get a 5% employer contribution, private medical insurance and 25 days holiday.

What you'll be doing?
- Ensure the safe delivery of works during the assigned shift.
- Maintain complete and accurate daily site records, including any changes or variations.
- Plan shift activities in coordination with the Pit Boss to support programme delivery.
- Collect and compile all necessary documentation to support construction records.
- Prepare work delivery documentation such as RAMS, ITPs, Programmes, and VTS, including analysis and evaluation using planned vs. actual performance tools.
- Review project delivery documents for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with contract requirements, legislation, and relevant standards. Secure necessary approvals prior to execution.
- Participate actively in the procurement of materials and subcontracted services. Manage materials on site to ensure timely and efficient delivery of works.
- Understand and implement the environmental and sustainability policies, processes, and statutory requirements as applicable to your discipline.
- Prepare and submit monthly construction management reports.
- Serve as SIC (Site Incident Controller - Bronze) for incident management in line with the Incident Response Plan.
- Lead, manage, motivate, and provide training to employees during your shift.
- Coordinate site operations in collaboration with construction and commercial managers.
- Manage subcontractors, update work pricing, and maintain control of scope and deliverables.
- Identify and address discrepancies between the contract, specifications, scope, and actual work being delivered. Maintain daily records to support future claims or dispute resolution.
What you need
- An HNC, HND or Degree in Civil Engineering
- Experience working as shift manager in tunnelling environment
- Valid CSCS card (Black/Gold/White) and SMSTS
- It would be great if you have confined space, TSTS, TEEP and First Aid at Work
