Job description

Senior Mechanical Project Manager
MEP Contracting / Building Services
Data Centre
Buckinghamshire

A leading Tier 1 MEP contractor is seeking a highly experienced Senior Mechanical Project Manager to lead the delivery of a landmark 10MW data centre – the first of four planned on a newly established hyperscale campus.

This is a rare opportunity to take ownership of a high-value, technically complex new-build project from pre-construction through to completion (Summer 2027). You’ll work closely with a well-established main contractor and one of the UK’s most respected end clients in the mission-critical space.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the mechanical package from pre-construction through to commissioning and handover on a 10MW data centre project
  • Manage and coordinate mechanical engineers, site managers, supervisors, and specialist subcontractors
  • Act as the primary mechanical interface between the MEP contractor, main contractor, and client team
  • Oversee programme delivery, commercial performance, health & safety, and quality standards for the mechanical scope
  • Drive progress across design coordination, procurement, installation, testing, commissioning, and handover
  • Ensure mechanical works are delivered in line with project specifications, budget, and programme
  • Coordinate closely with electrical, CSA, and commissioning teams to ensure fully integrated building services delivery
Requirements:
  • Proven experience as a Senior Mechanical Project Manager within a Tier 1 MEP contractor environment
  • Strong background delivering complex mechanical building services on large-scale data centre or mission-critical projects
  • Excellent understanding of mechanical systems including HVAC, chilled water systems, CRAH/CRAC units, DX systems, pipework, pumps, heat rejection, and BMS interfaces
  • Ability to lead project teams and manage subcontractors in fast-paced, high-value construction environments
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to engage confidently with clients, consultants, and senior stakeholders
  • Commercially aware with experience managing budgets, variations, and final accounts
