Overview
We are seeking an experienced Payroll Assistant with strong US payroll knowledge to join the team on an immediate-start, 6 month contract.
This role will support the accurate and timely processing of US payroll while assisting with payroll administration, compliance, and reporting activities. The successful candidate will be detail-oriented, hands-on, and comfortable working within a fast-paced finance or HR function.

This role will support the accurate and timely processing of US payroll while assisting with payroll administration, compliance, and reporting activities. The successful candidate will be detail-oriented, hands-on, and comfortable working within a fast-paced finance or HR function.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with end-to-end processing of US payroll (multi-state where applicable)
- Ensure payroll is processed accurately and in line with federal, state, and local regulations
- Maintain payroll records and ensure data integrity within payroll systems
- Support payroll reconciliations and month-end reporting
- Assist with preparation of payroll journals for finance
- Liaise with HR and Finance teams to resolve payroll queries
- Respond to employee payroll queries in a professional and timely manner
- Support compliance activities including W-2s, 1099s, and tax documentation (as applicable)
- Assist with audit requests and documentation
- Proven experience supporting or processing US payroll
- Strong understanding of US payroll legislation (federal and state level)
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail
- Strong Excel skills
- Ability to manage confidential and sensitive information
- Available to start immediately or at short notice
- Experience with multi-state payroll
- Exposure to international payroll environments
- Previous experience working in a global or matrix organisation
