P6 Project Planner - Manchester - Rail
Job description
Position: P6 Project Planner
Rate: £400 Inside IR35
Location: Manchester
Duration: 31st December
Working Arrangements: 2 days in office / 3 days from home
People Group are looking to recruit a Project Planner from a Network Rail background to work for a leading rail consultancy
Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain Project Schedules reflecting the remitted Scope. This will include integrating supply chain, Network Rail and possibly 3d party client activities, to ensure the full scope is captured.
- Establish the Performance Management Baseline, Where applicable based on the clause 14 from the supplier and incorporating time risk as identified via QSRA.
- Progressing the schedules fortnightly. Identify variances from baseline and work with the project teams to develop recovery plans.
- Analyse the supplier schedules from a quality perspective - e.g. coding Logic, realistic duration's - and ensure any actions are closed.
- Become an intrinsic part of the Project Management team ensuring stakeholders are clear on what needs to be produced and when,any potential slippage and what can be done to mitigate the slippage
- Attend periodic/key stakeholder meetings representing the planning functions
- Develop what-if scenarios as required to support future phase development
- Providing schedule data and reports as required to key stakeholders
- Supporting teams with monitoring, control, assurance, risk and value activities
- Must have significant experience of primavera/rail planning, ideally on high profile/risk, multi-disciplinary projects.

Job Skills, Experience and Qualifications
Essential
- Proven experience in the successful scheduling of Infrastructure Projects
- Knowledge of railway investment planning systems.
- Experience of using a number of project management scheduling tools including Primavera P6.
- Membership of a relevant professional body
- Understanding of the engineering requirements of work on the railway
- Six Sigma Yellow Belt
- A minimum of HNC in Civil Engineering, although a Degree would be preferable (or equivalent)
- Prior experience as working as a P6 Planner for Network Rail
