Wanted: Superhero Quantity Surveyor to Tame the A1331!!

Join a larger and ever-growing specialist contractor in a pivotal role on the A1331. This major development aims to link the A120 and A133, easing access to the A12 and reducing congestion in Colchester. The A1331 will also unlock land for housing, business, and leisure, supporting the construction of approximately 25,000 new homes in the region by 2033, including the new Tendring Colchester Borders Garden Community. This community will feature 7,500 - 9,000 new homes and extensive business, leisure, and recreational spaces.

My client are seeking a Managing Quantity Surveyor or an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor ready to step up into a managing role. This position will involve overseeing the financial and contractual aspects of the A1331 project, ensuring successful delivery in collaboration with Essex County Council.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage and oversee all quantity surveying activities
  • Prepare and negotiate contracts, budgets, and estimates
  • Ensure compliance with NEC contracts, particularly options A, C, and E
  • Liaise with project managers, engineers, and stakeholders to ensure project goals are met
  • Provide leadership and mentorship to junior surveyors
Qualifications and Experience:
  • Degree-qualified Quantity Surveyor
  • Proven experience in managing large-scale civil engineering projects (over 10 years at least)
  • Expertise in NEC contracts
  • Strong leadership and communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Familiarity with the local Essex area is a plus
