General  Laboratory Engineer / Scientific Equipment Coordinator
Salary: £34,000 - £37,000
Location: Harrogate
 
Join the account-based team and gain access to top-tier support, training, and Full Spectrum Lab services. In this role, you’ll provide onsite general laboratory equipment repair, maintenance, and calibration, while also supporting administrative operations.
As part of the onsite solution, you’ll manage the client’s laboratory assets, conduct regular preventative maintenance and calibration, and assist the Metrology engineering team, all in line with client quality and health and safety standards. You’ll work with a diverse range of laboratory equipment, performing tasks that enhance the efficiency and quality of the client’s scientific endeavors.
 
Key Responsibilities:
  • Establish and maintain a strong client  and end user relationship
  • Attend client meetings to review on-going performance, areas for continual improvement and governance
 
Engineering:
  • Undertake Triage of assets in response to reported Work Orders, in accordance with client SLA
  • Undertake Self Perform preventative maintenance on assets assigned for general lab equipment
  • Escort onsite visiting vendors to appropriate work areas within laboratories and comply with client site induction processes
  • Carry out regular asset sweeps (and potential for re-tagging of equipment)
  • Create, manage and review supporting documentation e.g. service reports
  • Monitor the performance of the scientific equipment and systems using Key Performance Indicators to instigate improvements and influence changes
 
Data Compliance:
  • Administration of electronic and hard copy service records, uploading and updating of clients electronic management system in accordance with GXP procedures.
  • Update TMS systems with WO Status and Service reports in a timely manner
  • Raising of Purchase Orders, financial reconciliation/invoice and payment queries
  • Attend regular vendor and customer meetings and supplying work orders status data
 
 
Relevant Background:
  • Experience working as a laboratory engineer within a Pharmaceutical setting
  • Sound knowledge of database and document management
  • Excellent Information Technology skills
  • Experience and knowledge of working as an engineer within a similar setting, working with and knowledge of calibration of laboratory equipment
  • 2+ years’ experience within the Laboratory/Pharmaceutical sector
  • Very strong analytical skills with proven ability to break down and solve complex problems in a logical and structured approach
  • PC literate in Microsoft packages (Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc)
  • Strong relationship management and excellent communication skills/influencing skills
  • Ability to work to own initiative but team orientated and able to work with minimal supervision
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Robust and assertive attitude towards achieving results and motivating team members
  • Experience within the GXP/GMP Laboratory/Pharmaceutical/ equivalent sector
  • Strong communication skills with client focus
