Negotiable Day Rate
Inside IR35 (£600/day +)
Expenses Reimbursable

National Grid’s “Great Grid Partnership” is producing a wealth of opportunities for Chartered Electrical Engineers with experience on National Grid substation projects.
We are working with a framework partner who have two live projects, with another eight in the pipeline. We are looking for experienced EHV Engineers to join on a contract or temp to perm basis, working on a hybrid basis between site, office & remote locations.
This role would suit engineers who have worked for principal contractors on National Grid jobs, the Original Equipment Manufacturers, or the end client. Without National Grid experience, we will be unable to proceed with your application.

Key Responsibilities
- Good knowledge on EHV design of NG substations ( upto 500kV)
- Specifying Compensators, Transformers, Reactors, Harmonic filters.
- Developing layout design of Onshore and offshore substations with minimum input.
- Earthing and lightning protection design for substations
- Protection and Interlock logic for the substation control system.
- Performing engineering calculations, technical specifications, data sheets and reports.
- Prepare single line diagrams, cable schedules etc.
- Inter-departmental coordination and communication
- Prepare and review electrical equipment datasheets.
- Have strong knowledge of NG High Voltage substation guidelines
- Knowledge of bonding and termination of cables and conductors
- Have expertise in electrical system studies and calculations using PSCAD, ETAP etc.
- Have knowledge of AutoCAD and working on 2D drawings.
- Knowledge on BIM is added advantage
What We're Looking For
- Degree qualified in Electrical Engineering or related discipline
- Chartered status (CEng or equivalent) desirable
- Proven experience delivering Extra High Voltage (EHV) projects (132kV and above)
- Experience with National Grid or DNO (Distribution Network Operator) projects
- Strong commercial and contract management skills (ideally NEC)
- Demonstrated leadership in delivering complex, high-value infrastructure projects
- Excellent communicator, influencer, and problem-solver
