Position: Sustainability Manager
Location: London
Salary: Negotiable
 
An excellent job opportunity for a Sustainability Manager to work for a leading M&E Contractor based in central London. 
In this role as sustainability manager, you will need to support new projects and programmes. This is a new role to the business and will require someone who is passionate about sustainability and to support the companies new growth area.

What will you be doing?
 
  • Lead the development of client environmental and sustainability strategies on individual projects, including agreeing project outcomes and ensuring their delivery by the project team.
  • Support work winning through bid support, innovation, client liaison, upskilling of colleagues and raising the company’s profile externally.
  • Be the company expert and promote innovation in a particular area of sustainability, such as waste, energy/carbon, water, responsible sourcing of materials, and sustainable buildings.  At the same time this person will be a pro-active generalist, able to cover all major issues of sustainability with all relevant stakeholders.
  • Support the drive to be a leader in sustainability.
 
Let’s talk about you….
  • Expert knowledge of the environmental impacts of new developments and appropriate survey and mitigation techniques, both in construction and operation of buildings.
  • Experience of the management of Environmental Impact Assessments, including co-ordination and technical review of individual environmental studies.
  • Detailed knowledge of the Town Planning system, in particular environmental requirements required to achieve planning consent.
  • Proven track record of driving design teams to understand and respond to environmental constraints and opportunities to maximise positive environmental benefits.
  • Expertise in one or more sustainability topics (waste, water, energy, carbon, responsible sourcing, building design, biodiversity).
  • Be able to translate technical topics into laypersons language and articulate the value of sustainability.
  • Be able to represent the business at relevant forums and through presentations to clients and working groups.
  • Champion sustainability and be a leader, encouraging behavioural change throughout the business.
  • Developing innovation and best practice, including clearly communicating these to the wider business and our clients.
  • As such, they must be able to translate best EMS practices from one area to another.  This includes analysing reporting to simplify the processes.
  • Bid support – support the bid process with strong business acumen.
  • Establish and maintain positive working relationships with client and stakeholders including design team members, contractors, sub-contractors, and regulators
