Job description

Fancy Getting Paid to Travel the World?  Do you have ambitions to work internationally for a Principal Contractor that truly rewards performance and promotes on merit?

This is your opportunity to accelerate your career — with a clear pathway from Section Engineer to Agent within a couple of years, possibly sooner. And this isn’t just talk: one of our recent placements progressed from Site Agent to Project Director in only two years, earning a significant pay rise along the way.

Our client specialises in major horizontal civil engineering projects, typically delivered in live, operational environments. Projects are largely self delivered, ranging from £20M to £100M in value. With a secure order book across the UK and overseas, this is a business actively pursuing flagship infrastructure schemes — including opportunities as far afield as Australia.

What will you be doing?

As a Section Engineer, you will be responsible for:

Health, Safety & Environment
  • Prepare, review, and approve RAMS and Task Briefing Sheets (TBS)
  • Communicate safety requirements to the workforce and monitor on-site compliance
  • Implement site systems and controls aligned with company standards and project requirements
  • Manage the permitting process efficiently to enable timely commencement of works

Programme & Progress
  • Review short-term lookahead programmes, monitor progress, and report any potential delays
  • Provide feedback on site issues that may impact delivery and assist in identifying, preventing, and resolving them
  • Support proactive planning to maintain programme integrity and mitigate risks to progress

Design & Design Assurance
  • Review and interpret design drawings, specifications, and setting-out data to ensure accurate construction
  • Identify and define temporary works requirements; prepare design briefs and liaise with designers as needed
  • Communicate temporary works designs to the site team, oversee installation, and ensure compliance
  • Raise and manage Technical Queries (TQs) and Material Approval Records (MARs)
  • Procure materials in line with the construction programme and specification requirements

Quality Management
  • Prepare and review Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs) and ensure processes are communicated and followed on site
  • Maintain accurate QA documentation and records
  • Lead the documentation, tracking, resolution, and close-out of Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs)
  • Collate evidence in line with ITPs and handover requirements and lead readiness and quality review processes

To be successful in this position, it is thought that you will:
  • Be educated to HND or Degree level in Civil Engineering
  • Hold a CSCS Card - Academically or Professionally Qualified Person/Supervisory/Manager
  • Have a SSSTS or SMSTS
  • Ideally have at least 3 years of site based experience working on a civil engineering project

On offer is a salary of between 60,000 - 65,000 per annum, plus a very attractive benefits package incorporating a tax free subsistence, accommodation, car allowance, matched contribution pension and private medical.
