Job description

We are working with a privately owned and expanding Civil Construction Contractor, with a headcount of 240 and projected annual revenue of 180M.

They are recruiting for a Project Planner to support with projects in the Greater London and Northern Home Counties. You would probably cover between three and six projects, working across multiple sectors including industrial, data centres and commercial. Typical project scope would entail groundworks, foundations, RC, utility corridors, pile caps, hard landscaping and some structural steel works.

This position would suit someone with a few years of site-based engineering and management experience who is looking to break into planning. Mind you, we would still like to encourage expressions of interest from fully fledged planners!

Joining a smaller business will provide you with more exposure, more learning, more responsibility and more impact. If you have an interest in working internationally, then there could be opportunity for you to do so across Europe.

There is a lot of flexibility as well, and you will be based on site, home and office. You will manage your own time and diary and be trusted to deliver.

Key responsibilities:
  • Produce high quality programmes for live projects, including pre-construction and construction phases.
  • Monitor and control project effectiveness, key outputs trackers and advise of any deviation.
  • Prepare short and long-term resource allocation plans based on input from all key players and team members.
  • Identify changes in work scope in the project plan and produce impacted programmes.
  • Develop claims for Extension of Time and narratives to support programmes.
  • Ensure to convey required project data and information to project teams.
  • Prepare and present regular internal and external project reports / dashboards for management.
  • Gather actual data, update project schedule, and develop reliable schedule forecast with support from project team.

To be successful in this role, it is likely that you:
  • Hold a relevant degree qualification in engineering or construction, or hold extensive practical experience
  • Have a background in operational roles, for example as a Site Engineer or Site Agent, ideally with planning experience
  • Have working knowledge of planning and scheduling systems such as Primavera P6, Asta and MS Project.

The position offers a salary of between 60,000 - 70,000 per annum with a car allowance, private medical, enhanced contribution pension and an annual holiday entitlement of 24 days which increases with service.
