Job description

My client is a dynamic medium-sized Building Services Contractor specializing in commercial fit-out projects. With a proven track record of delivering high-quality Building Services installations, they’ve built strong relationships with clients across various industries.

Due to growth, an Mechanical Design Manager is required to join the business. This role will be based in the Central London office.

What will you be doing?
  • To take responsibility of assigned projects in terms of Cost, Programme, and Quality and oversee design completion in line with all company processes.
  • To manage project teams effectively in completing Stage 5 MEP design packages for installation by the delivery teams.
    • Management of the project CAD/Coordination teams shall be via the project designated CAD Manager.
    • Assigned project resources may be an internal design team or appointed consultant and/or CAD bureau.
  • To represent the Design Team at project meetings, both internal and external.
  • To monitor project deliverables programmes and report on their status.
  • To co-operate and communicate effectively with Project Managers and other team members providing technical support as required.
  • To be commercially aware of costs and able to identify additional costs not included in the original contract.
  • To oversee quality control of design submittals.
 
Qualifications and experience
 
  • Degree qualified in a relevant subject preferable.
  • Membership, or in process of gaining, to professional institute preferable .
  • UK commercial fit out experience essential.
  • Highly proficient in mechanical design principals of the below systems through to RIBA Stage 5.
    • General fresh air, dirty extract, and LEV ventilation services
    • Domestic services
    • Above ground drainage services
    • LTHW heating services
    • CHW, VRF and Hybrid VRF cooling services
  • Good understanding of electrical design principals also preferrable.
  • Experience working to BIM Level 2.
  • Good understanding of WELL, BREAM & NABERS requirements and their impact on design proposals.
