E&P Design Manager (Perm)
Our client is part of the Southern Renewals Enterprise helping to deliver Electrification and Plant (E&P) renewals across the Southern region.
The initial period on the CP7 Framework will see a large amount of design as our client prepares for E&P delivery through to 2029.
We are looking for an experienced E&P Design Manager to join on a permanent basis, working hybrid between home and an office in Central London, with occasional site visits through the region.
As Design Manager you will be responsible for successful development of a package of pre-construction works on Network Rail projects. You will develop schemes through design and other pre-construction activities, to hand over to our Delivery teams.
You will need be / have:
  • An Engineering Background with Design Management Experience. Pricing & Estimating knowledge a Bonus.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Good level of NEC3 knowledge, and ability to administer contracts.
  • Design Management skills.
  • Exceptional people management skills - with the ability to influence and mentor to motivate employees to achieve exacting standards of compliance.
  • Highly organised, with excellent planning and time management skills.
  • Highly motivated, results-oriented with a positive outlook.
  • Technically savvy, with good working knowledge of Microsoft Project.
  • Managing projects or Programmes and working with other departments to achieve deliverables.
  • Experience and knowledge of construction industry – awareness of current techniques.
  • Have managed design programmes and been responsible for their delivery, in terms of quality, design assurance, commercial performance, and meeting programme constraints.
  • Knowledge of Network Rail processes and assurance procedures.
  • Detailed understanding of safety leadership from a policy and behavioural perspective.
  • You will be Degree qualified in a Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering or related course (or equivalent relevant experience)
  • Has achieved or has aspiration of Professional membership with a recognised and relevant Professional body, i.e. Institution of Electrical Engineers and has a clear plan to achieve such status.
