Job description
A long term contract opportunity has arisen for a Construction Manager to join a tier-one consultancy providing project management, engineering, and construction management services to Network Rail.
Based in YORK, you will support construction assurance and governance for third-party works, ensuring the safety and integrity of Network Rail’s infrastructure.
You will cover the eastern region of the route, and in a typical week, you will likely spend one to two days in the York office, with the remainder of your time spent visiting sites across the route.
The role offers £350 per day (Inside IR35), plus business mileage at 45p per mile. The initial contract duration is six months, with a strong likelihood of extension thereafter, making this an excellent opportunity to secure a long-term role within a relatively compact geographic area.

You’ll be responsible for:
- Managing construction assurance for third party works protecting network rail assets
- Providing governance through site inspections and assurance activities
- Monitoring construction risk and implement proportionate mitigation
- Validating design risks through audits and constructability reviews
- Ensuring compliance with standards, procedures, and legislation
- Approving construction and health and safety documentation
- Building effective relationships with stakeholders and site teams
- Producing clear assurance reporting, data capture, and risk management
- Demonstrable experience in working on Network Rail (Civil Engineering) projects for either a Principal Contractor or the Client
- Proven construction management experience, including rail construction assurance environments
- Strong knowledge of CDM regulations, health and safety legislation, and rail engineering standards
- Certified in site safety management, holding valid PTS
- Effective communication with demonstrated leadership, mentoring, and stakeholder management skills
