Job description

Are you ready to jump on board and keep the trains (and your career) on the right track or do you prefer watching from the platform?

I'm working with a leading transport solutions provider renowned for its innovative approach and strong partnerships within the rail industry. My client has recently been appointed to the prestigious Eastern Routes Partnership (ERP) Framework for Network Rail Eastern Region for CP7. They have secured a significant portion covering the Generalist scope of Distribution and Plant, ensuring they remain at the forefront of delivering essential infrastructure projects. With their financial backing and strong relationship with Network Rail, this opportunity barely scratches the surface of the future projects they have planned. You'll be making a smart decision by joining them now!

The ERP Framework aligns delivery partners to work collaboratively, my client's portion of the framework, focusing on Distribution and Plant, will run for five years from 1 April 2024 to 31 March 2029, with the option to extend for up to an additional five years, potentially covering CP8. The anticipated value for CP7 is between £154 million and £222 million.

They are seeking the cream of the crop of Commercial Managers to join their team and lead the commercial aspects of our operations under the ERP Framework. This role will involve building, managing, and leading our commercial team, ensuring the successful delivery of our contractual obligations and maintaining our strong relationship with Network Rail.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Build, manage, and lead the commercial team to ensure efficient and effective delivery of the framework objectives.
  • Oversee all commercial aspects of the framework, including contract negotiations, compliance, and administration.
  • Manage budgets, forecasts, and financial reporting to ensure profitability and financial health of the projects.
  • Maintain and enhance their strong relationship with Network Rail and other key stakeholders, ensuring effective communication and collaboration.
What you need:
  • To be able to travel to London, York and Anglia for meetings
  • Proven experience as a Managing Quantity Surveyor or Commercial Manager within the rail or civil engineering sectors (Ideal).
  • Strong understanding of contract management, financial management, and risk mitigation.
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills, with a track record of building and leading high-performing teams.
  • Knowledge of Network Rail frameworks and standards is highly desirable.
I know what you're thinking. What's in it for me? Well, aside from a great salary, a company car, and covered travel expenses, my client is offering one lucky commercial manager the chance to lead all the commercial aspects of this fantastic framework and help steer the ship of this amazing organization. If you're a commercially savvy and an ambitious professional itching to leave your mark on the rail industry, we'd love to hear from you—preferably before you hop on the next train! Join us in shaping the future of rail infrastructure. Apply or send your CV to Henry.appiah@peoplegroup.com
