Moving to Saudi
Moving to Saudi Arabia was a big decision for our family, but one that made complete sense. Like many expats, we were drawn by the financial benefits, lifestyle opportunities, and the country’s rapid transformation. Full disclosure we had lived in the UAE previously so it was an easier decision for us than other people.
One of the biggest factors was the tax-free salary. Compared to the UK, where income tax and national insurance take a big chunk of earnings, Saudi allows us to maximize our income and save more for the future. This financial freedom has given us the flexibility to travel more and make investments for our future.
Beyond the financial perks, Saudi Arabia is going through an exciting period of change. With Vision 2030, the country is opening up culturally and economically, making it an interesting place to live and work. The mix of tradition and modernization, along with a strong sense of community among expats, has made our transition very easy.
For us, international schooling is another major advantage. Saudi Arabia has a wide range of high-quality international schools following British, American, IB, and other curricula.
Living in a secure, family-friendly compound was also a huge plus. Many expats reside in gated communities that offer a safe environment, resort-style amenities, and a strong sense of community. With pools, gyms, parks, and recreational facilities, life inside a compound feels both comfortable and social.
Additionally, healthcare in Saudi Arabia is world-class with great hospitals, international doctors, and comprehensive medical insurance provided by employers.
Of course, every move comes with challenges, but for us, the rewards far outweigh them. Whether it’s the financial advantages, career growth, or the chance to be part of something new, Saudi Arabia has proven to be a great choice for our family.
