Job description

Senior Mechanical Estimator
Essex
£70,000 – £75,000 + Package

Due to continued growth and a strong pipeline of secured work, a leading MEP contractor is looking to appoint an experienced Senior Mechanical Estimator to join its established pre-construction team in Essex.

This is an opportunity to play a key role in delivering a varied portfolio of commercial, healthcare, and education projects, with mechanical packages typically up to £10m.

The business has built a strong reputation for delivering high-quality building services projects and offers a stable, collaborative environment with genuine long-term progression opportunities.

This role would be ideal for candidates looking to work more locally within Essex and the surrounding areas or for those currently working in the London market who are seeking to step away from Central London travel and focus on a more regional portfolio of projects.

The Role:

• Lead mechanical estimating activities across multiple tenders
• Produce detailed and competitive cost plans for HVAC, public health, and mechanical building services packages
• Review drawings, specifications, and tender documentation to identify commercial opportunities and technical risks
• Manage supplier and subcontractor enquiries, analysing quotations and benchmarking market rates
• Work closely with pre-construction managers, design teams, and operational delivery teams throughout the bid process
• Contribute to value engineering strategies and tender presentations
• Support and mentor junior estimators within the team
• Maintain awareness of current market conditions, labour trends, and material pricing

Requirements:

• Proven experience as a Mechanical Estimator or Senior Mechanical Estimator within the building services / MEP sector
• Strong technical understanding of mechanical systems and installation methodologies
• Track record pricing commercial, healthcare, or education projects
• Ability to manage multiple tenders in a fast-paced environment
• Strong commercial awareness and negotiation skills
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities
• Experience using estimating software and Microsoft Office packages

What’s on Offer:

• Opportunity to work on a diverse range of regional projects across Essex and surrounding areas
• Reduced travel and improved work-life balance compared to Central London roles
• Long-term progression within a well-established contractor
• Supportive and collaborative pre-construction team
• Competitive salary, bonus, and comprehensive package

If you are looking for a long-term opportunity with a contractor known for delivering quality building services projects across key sectors, please apply or get in touch for a confidential discussion.
