Senior Mechanical Estimator
MEP Contracting / Building Services

I'm recruiting on behalf of an ambitious MEP Contractor that is well known for delivering high-quality commercial projects on time and within budget and is seeking a Senior Mechanical Estimator to join their growing team.

Due to recent changes with their senior leadership team, they are aiming to increase their turnover by around 30%, which will take them to around £50m. They have plans in place to increase their project capacities, project values, and Mechanical Estimator with plans to become a manager. 

This is a pivotal role that will involve leading the estimation process for mechanical projects, ensuring accurate cost analysis and competitive bidding. The successful candidate will play a key role in securing new business opportunities and driving the growth of our mechanical division.

Key Responsibilities

  • Preparation of Detailed Estimates: Develop comprehensive mechanical estimates for commercial, industrial, and residential projects.
  • Project Analysis: Evaluate tender documents, specifications, and drawings to produce accurate cost estimates.
  • Subcontractor and Supplier Engagement: Source and obtain competitive quotes from subcontractors and suppliers to ensure the best value.
  • Risk Assessment: Identify potential project risks and opportunities, providing solutions to mitigate risks.
  • Cost Management: Track costs and provide insights into budget adherence, potential cost savings, and efficiency improvements.
  • Client Liaison: Collaborate with clients, consultants, and project managers to ensure alignment of estimates with project goals.
  • Mentoring and Leadership: Guide junior estimators and support the professional development of the estimating team.
  • Continuous Improvement: Contribute to the enhancement of estimation processes, tools, and methodologies to drive accuracy and efficiency.
