Job description

This is an opportunity for you to fast track into a Site Agent position within 12 months.

We’re recruiting a Senior Engineer to a Tier 2 Principal Contractor. With a pipeline of secure projects across the West and East Midlands, this is a great opportunity for you to quickly develop into a Project Manager. Being a platinum investor in people means you’ll be fully supported by the company along with lots of one-on-one coaching from the senior leadership.

Initially working on a project in Shropshire, you’ll help to deliver around £50M of scope under the NEC form of contract.  The bulk of this will be self-delivered meaning you’ll have full control of all aspects of the project, programme, and budget. This will be particularly good for your development, particularly when it comes to understanding the true cost and value.

You will be working within an organisation where self-motivated, proactive, and enthusiastic individuals thrive.

As Senior Engineer you will be responsible to:
  • Establish the level and survey control for contracts and set out detailed works as per the contract drawings ensuring that checks are made on a regular basis
  • Ensure records regarding health and safety and the work environment are complete, accurate and comply with requirements
  • Deliver the work safely, without environmental incidents, and to the specified quality
  • Assist in developing efficient work methods and techniques, ensuring the best use of resources
  • Deputise for the Sub/Site Agent where required
  • Carry out instrumental checks in line with requirements
  • Complete records of quality audits in accordance with agreed procedures and timescales
  • Give feedback to the Site Agent/Sub Agent regarding areas where corrective action needs to be taken
  • Compile ITPs
  • Ensure the availability of resources and that they consistently meet requirements for quality, quantity and prompt delivery
  • Deal with any actual or potential problems with resources promptly liaising with the Site Agent where necessary
  • Ensure records of resources are complete and accurate
  • Organise and conduct toolbox talks and issue method statements
  • Develop and maintain positive working relationships
  • Obtain all ‘as built’ information ensuring that it is accurate and relevant
  • Record, store and maintain records and correspondence in line with organisational and legal requirements

To be successful in this position, it is thought that you will:
  • Be educated to HND or Degree level in Civil Engineering
  • Have demonstrable experience of working as a Site Engineer or Section Engineer within the civil engineering construction industry
  • Be experienced in Design & Build Contracts
  • Have a full UK Driving Licence
  • Be committed to UK travel and potentially international travel

On offer is an above market salary of 50,000 - 60,000 per annum with a very strong benefits package providing private medical cover, bonus, generous car allowance, tax free subsistence etc.
