Job Title: Quality Inspector - Highways 

Location: Carlisle, UK

Company: Tier 1 Consultancy

Duration: 9-12 month contract with immediate start

Salary: £340 per day Outside IR35

Position Overview: We are seeking a skilled Quality Inspector to join our team in Carlisle, UK, to ensure the highest standards of quality and compliance are maintained throughout all phases of our highways project. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in upholding our reputation for delivering projects that meet or exceed client expectations.
Responsibilities:
  1. Conduct thorough inspections of construction activities, materials, and finished work to ensure compliance with project specifications, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.
  2. Identify and document quality issues, non-conformances, and areas for improvement, and collaborate with project stakeholders to implement corrective actions.
  3. Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of quality control measures, testing procedures, and quality assurance processes, recommending adjustments as needed to enhance project outcomes.
  4. Coordinate with project managers, engineers, contractors, and subcontractors to communicate quality expectations, resolve discrepancies, and facilitate timely resolution of quality-related issues.
  5. Review project documentation, including drawings, plans, specifications, and technical data, to verify accuracy, completeness, and compliance with contractual requirements.
  6. Conduct audits and reviews of project documentation, records, and procedures to ensure adherence to quality management systems and best practices.
  7. Provide guidance and support to project teams on quality-related matters, promoting a culture of continuous improvement and excellence.
  8. Prepare and maintain accurate reports, logs, and documentation related to quality inspections, findings, and outcomes.
  9. Participate in meetings, site visits, and inspections with clients, regulators, and other stakeholders to address quality-related concerns and ensure alignment with project objectives.
Requirements:
  1. Proven experience as a Quality Inspector or similar role in civil engineering, highways, or infrastructure projects.
  2. Strong knowledge of construction materials, methods, and techniques, with a focus on highways and transportation infrastructure.
  3. Familiarity with relevant industry standards, codes, regulations, and quality management systems (ISO 9001, etc.).
  4. Excellent attention to detail and analytical skills, with the ability to identify and resolve quality issues effectively.
  5. Strong communication, interpersonal, and collaboration skills, with the ability to interact professionally with diverse stakeholders.
  6. Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment, while maintaining high standards of quality and accuracy.
  7. Proficiency in using computer software and applications for documenting inspections, generating reports, and communicating findings.
  8. Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to project sites as needed.
  9. Relevant qualifications or certifications in quality management, construction inspection, or related fields are desirable.
