Job description

This end client position will find you accountable for the development and delivery of a major Construction project in a live, operational environment. With an allocated budget of £350M, you will steer the project through the full RIBA plan of works, taking it from strategic definition to in use.

This is a rare opportunity to join a major infrastructure owner, operator and developer and be responsible for one of their largest projects.

Not only does this offer a really interesting and challenging project to lead, it gives you a degree of flexibility that is pretty unheard of in construction. You'll get a lot of your own time back meaning you can prioritise life!

This position would suit an individual from either an end client, consultancy or Main Contractor background.

As Project Director you will be responsible to:
  • Lead and manage the project team in the design, procurement, construction, delivery, and handover of the project
  • Lead the development and maintenance of a culture of world class health, safety, and environmental standards
  • Lead the identification and mitigation of risks that may impact project delivery or affect operations through the project/programme lifecycle
  • Deliver to defined cost, schedule, and quality requirements and lead the successful handover of the asset
  • Lead the development of the project team; set standards, manage, motivate, coach and mentor staff within the team. Recognise talent and assist in the development of those with high potential
  • Ensure compliance with all legal and statutory obligations
  • Manage and positively influence key stakeholders (both internal & external)
  • Lead the Lessons Identified process and embed a culture of continuous improvement

To be successful in this position it is anticipated that you will:
  • Be educated to Degree level or equivalent in a project management, architecture, engineering, or construction related field.
  • Be a practitioner in project management (e.g. APMP Project Management Qualification or PRINCE2 Practitioner).
  • Have demonstrable experience as a Number One on large, multi-year infrastructure projects with a value typically more than £50m including the management of significant external suppliers
  • Be adept in leading teams of up to 10 people
  • Be a highly skilled communicator with an entrenched ability to manage multiple, demanding stakeholders

On offer is a salary of between 100,000 - 110,000 per annum.  You'll also benefit from a generous package including a 30% annual bonus, a cash benefits allowance of £7,800, private medical, an enhanced Employer contribution pension and up to 30 days holiday.
