National Grid’s “Great Grid Partnership” is producing a wealth of opportunities for Chartered Electrical Engineers with experience on National Grid substation projects.

We are working with a framework partner who have two live projects, with another eight in the pipeline. We need HV Electrical Design Managers with experience of designing National Grid substations projects, from £132kV to 400kV.

This role would suit Design Managers who have worked for principal contractors on National Grid jobs, the Original Equipment Manufacturers, or the end client. Without National Grid experience, we will be unable to proceed with your application.

You will need:

  • Lead and coordinate briefing and design activities during pre-construction
  • Oversee the design process through all stages, ensuring buildability, safety, and compliance
  • Manage consultants and ensure efficient information and change control
  • Promote innovation in design, construction methods, and digital adoption

We are looking for:

  • A degree in Electrical Engineering (or similar technical background)
  • Around 10 years' experience managing design on major infrastructure or building services projects
  • Broad sector experience and a collaborative mindset
  • International experience and DfMA exposure would be a plus
