Job description
An excellent job opportunity for a forward-thinking Design Manager to join my clients dynamic and growing team in Norwich. This will be on a long-term freelance contract.
Project: This is to support the upgrade over 100 civic buildings across Norfolk for the Council’s ‘future ready’ Property enhancement initiative
You will help deliver some of the most innovative, sustainable, and technically advanced commercial office fit-out projects.

You will help deliver some of the most innovative, sustainable, and technically advanced commercial office fit-out projects.
What will you be doing?
- Support the design team through the scheme/production design stage and assist the delivery team through implementation and handover.
- Drive all design-related project outcomes.
- Provide technical expertise in design management and act as the focal point for all technical design-related matters on projects.
- Work closely with the project commercial manager to produce project-specific designer agreements, ensuring designers' scopes of work and design responsibilities are clearly defined and understood.
- Liaise with the project planner to produce, agree, and manage a realistic design program to meet procurement and construction requirements.
- Represent the project team at client review meetings.
- Develop a detailed design program with all relevant parties to meet design, procurement, and construction requirements.
- Attend regular internal design meetings to review new drawings, design team inputs, and subcontractor contributions with the project team, and action comments generated from these meetings, including instructions for subcontractors.
- Assist construction managers with design issues as needed.
- Ensure design compliance with statutory requirements and applicable standards.
