Cost/Senior Cost Consultant MEP (Quantity Surveyor)

Role: Cost/Senior Cost Consultant MEP (Quantity Surveyor)

Our client, a privately owned, leading global construction and consultancy firm are interested in meeting experienced Quantity Surveyors who are passionate about cost and commercial management. We are looking to recruit a Cost Consultant and Senior Cost Consultant that specialises in MEP, who has a mix of property and infrastructure project experience.
 
Your responsibilities will include:
 

• Conducting feasibility studies and advising on procurement strategies and contract selection
• Writing and undertaking procurement reports
• Applying value management techniques at the outset of a project
• Managing, estimating, and planning costs, including taking ownership of and presenting the final cost plan
• Negotiating and agreeing on final accounts
• Representing the firm to clients, stakeholders, and other consultants at all project stages
• Handling contractual frameworks and standard forms of contract
• Identifying and acting upon opportunities to improve cost management procedures, templates, and products to enhance the services provided to clients

 
About you:
 

• Previous experience in a cost consultancy practice in a similar role (preferred, not essential)
• Knowledge of MEP systems and experience working across multiple sectors
• You will ideally be MRICS or working towards chartership.
• Essential experience with JCT and NEC forms of contract
• Expertise in cost planning, budgeting, and estimating
• Strong knowledge of contract law and contractual frameworks in construction
• Proven ability to undertake and advise on Contract Administration
• Understanding of value engineering and life cycle costing
• Familiarity with industry best practices
• Awareness of hot topic issues such as Sustainability, Social Value, and Carbon Reduction impacting the Public Sector
• Capability to analyse and provide advice on Capex versus Opex costs
