Job description

Commissioning Engineer (£370/day PAYE, £486/day Umbrella)

The opportunity is to be part of the Thames Tideway Tunnel project which aims to achieve the ambitious target of “Reconnecting London with the River Thames”, by tackling the issue of frequent untreated sewage spills into the river from London's Victorian sewer network.
The Main Works East is section was secured by the Costain-Vinci-Bachy joint venture (“CVB”) to provide a new sewage storage and transfer tunnel from Chambers Wharf to Abbey Mills. It includes the main tunnel, a connection tunnel to Greenwich Pumping Station, various shaft constructions, a connection to the newly constructed Lee Tunnel project, and minor works at the Beckton Sewage Treatment Plant, all as part of an overall project to reduce sewer discharge overflows into the River Thames.
About the Role
The role is for a Commissioning engineer to be part of the team that delivers the EICA permanent works for CVB in the East section of the Tideway Tunnel.
The successful candidate will work within the Contractor’s EICA and commissioning team, working alongside the many other disciplines and stakeholders that make up the Tideway Tunnel project delivery team.
The role includes involvement in final design management, change control and factory acceptance testing of control panels and MCCs; the procurement, installation, and testing of instrumentation; and site acceptance testing, and commissioning. FAT testing can mean being away at a factory for 4/5 days at a time and can be up to two weeks. This will be a rare occurrence.
The project offices and worksites are in East London. Although much of the work is site based, there is some flexibility with respect to working from home for this role when site works do not require attendance. Attendance to UK manufacturing facilities for factory inspection and acceptance testing of electrical equipment will at times be necessary. FAT testing can mean being away at a factory for 4/5 days at a time and can be up to two weeks. This will be a rare occurrence.
